Beginner Bash Tournament
Tournament Wrap-Up – Pickleball on Brisbane’s Northside
Our latest Pickle Kit Beginner Bash was a brilliant morning of pickleball here on Brisbane’s Northside. The weather finally played nice for once — a rare win considering the storms we usually seem to attract whenever we run a tournament! With great energy and a full roll-up of players ready to go, it was the perfect way to spend a Sunday morning.
A Big Day for New Pickleball Players in Brisbane
The Beginner Bash is designed for players who’ve recently joined the sport through our Come & Try sessions, Beginner Practice, or our regular pickleball coaching for beginners in Mitchelton. With pickleball booming across Brisbane, events like this give new players a friendly and structured way to try a tournament-format day without the pressure of higher-level competition.
We’re seeing more and more players search for things like Beginner Pickleball Brisbane and the Beginner Bash is fast becoming one of the most popular entry points into competitive play for our community.
Round Robin → Knockout Draw
We kicked things off with a round-robin format to sort the knockout seedings. Every court had close games running back-to-back, and you could really see how much improvement players have made over the past few months.
There were long rallies and plenty of tactical play — all the good stuff you want to see at a beginner-friendly tournament. The atmosphere was competitive but still relaxed, which is exactly what these events are all about.
Extra Matches and Great Games
A bunch of players stuck around after their pool rounds to jump into extra social matches while the knockout side of the draw continued. That’s the good thing about having multiple undercover pickleball courts available at Mitchelton — when players want to keep hitting, we always find a way to make court space work.
It’s also one of the reasons so many new players are finding us when searching online for Brisbane pickleball sessions near me — easy access, undercover courts, and a community that genuinely wants to play more.
Congrats to the Winners 🏆
A massive shout-out to everyone who took home medals or placed in the top spots. For a beginner event, the standard was impressive — and you could really see players applying what they’ve learnt in sessions like Beginner Practice and Skills & Drills.
These smaller-scale tournaments are a huge boost to our community, especially for new players working towards joining Intermediates or our social leagues later on. It was also great seeing some of our developing Intermediate players step up and compete on court — not only lifting the level of play, but giving our newer players a clear pathway of what’s next as they continue improving.
Why We Run the Beginner Bash
Pickle Kit has become a bit of a pickleball hub for Brisbane’s Northside, and days like this are a reminder of why we do it. The Beginner Bash gives fresh players a fun, welcoming way to dip their toes into competitive pickleball without any pressure. It’s also a great stepping stone into our other sessions, court hire, or eventually our larger events.
Hosting beginner-friendly tournaments is part of what makes Pickle Kit such a strong community-driven place to play.
Huge Thank You to Everyone Who Joined
It was an awesome morning with a great crew on court. Seeing so many new players having a crack, backing themselves, and enjoying the sport is what it’s all about. We’re already looking forward to the next Beginner Bash — and based on the feedback, it’ll fill up pretty quickly.
Thanks again to everyone who played, supported, or came down to cheer. Can’t wait to run the next one! 💥
