Pickle Kit Coaching Clinic Wrap-Up
32 players. 4 pro coaches. 2 million roll volleys.
Our latest Pickle Kit Coaching Clinic was one for the books — an action-packed weekend full of spin and skill.
From the moment we kicked off, the energy was high and the courts were buzzing with players eager to sharpen their game. The focus of this clinic? Spin — topspin, backspin and sidespin. With four elite Australian pros at the helm, our players were in expert hands.
🎾 Meet the Coaches
Joey Wild
Joey brings a fiery competitive edge and a deep technical knowledge of the game. Known for his explosive movement and relentless shot variety, Joey focused heavily on teaching how to disguise spin and create space with precise resets and roll volleys. His one-on-one feedback left players with clearer tactics and stronger confidence in their own toolbox.
Ben Costin
One of Australia's most comprehensive coaches, Ben is the definition of control and consistency. With an extensive coaching background and a sharp understanding of game IQ, Ben helped break down the mechanics of topspin to help players hit with more intent and less effort. His sharp wit and easygoing humour kept the energy high and made the learning feel fun, relaxed, and genuinely enjoyable.
Danni-Elle Townsend
Danni-Elle’s court coverage and footwork are unmatched — and she brought the same intensity to her coaching. She helped players understand the why behind their shot selections, especially when it came to handling pace and countering spin. Her group sessions were fast-paced and tactical, and she didn’t hold back when it came to pushing players just outside their comfort zone (in the best way possible).
Louie Laville
Louie’s flair and creativity on court added a whole new dynamic to the clinic. Known for his finesse and unique use of angles and off-speed spin, Louie guided players through advanced concepts with a smile and a tonne of encouragement. His coaching station was where players learned to slow things down, use deception, and shape the ball more deliberately.
What Players Had to Say
The feedback from the weekend was overwhelmingly positive. One player summed it up perfectly:
“Outstanding! Learnt a lot from watching such exceptional talent and applying their group and individual feedback. Also very well organised.” Geoff T
We saw it all — players adjusting their grips and court positioning flicking roll volleys they’d never attempted before, and yes… a few very dizzy pickleballs spinning their way off court. The drills were purposeful, the match play intense, and the takeaways clear: spin is a weapon — if you know how to use it.
📽 Exhibition Match to Wrap It Up
To cap off the weekend, we were treated to a Pickle Kit Exhibition Match featuring Ben Costin, Danni-Elle Townsend, Joey Wild, and Louie Laville. It was the perfect finish — a bunch of pros casually hitting shots most of us can only dream of 💪
👏 Massive thanks to the crew for putting on an entertaining finish!
